19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He rescued four early chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
